Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What separates Devidot Credit Union from the rest? These answers just scratch the surface.

Accordion Section

A credit union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative that provides savings, credit and other financial services to their members. Credit unions generally offer the same services and technologies as traditional banks. Credit union memberships are usually based on a commonality among members, whether it is belonging to a specific community, organization, religion or place of employment.

Devidot Credit Union’s membership consists of those who live, work or go to school in Broward, Charlotte, Collier, Lee, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe, Palm Beach County, Hillsborough, Manatee, Pinellas, Sarasota or St. Lucie counties; are employees of FPL/NextEra, Ryder System, Inc., members and employees of Bonefish & Tarpon Trust, and immediate family of all current members.
Credit unions and banks are both financial institutions, but they operate very differently. Credit unions are not-for-profit, financial cooperatives owned by the members of the credit union.

The focus of credit unions is to provide value to the entire membership and not just profits for the benefit of the shareholders. This benefits members in a variety of ways including, generally, lower loan rates, higher savings rates and fewer service fees compared to other types of financial institutions. Devidot Credit Union is a full-service credit union with branches in Delaware and services beyond. In addition, locally owned and a common bond among the members means family-like service also.
